You can use the blooms in garnishes, teas, salads, soups and soup making. Solitary yellow and red flowers will only open with sunny conditions. Same family is Portulaca oleracea, a species of Portulaca eaten as a leaf vegetable, known as summer purslane. If you dont cut it- this makes beautiful drape over walls or edges of baskets and planters or can be used as ground cover. This plant will reseed itself. Can be grown indoors but needs full sun.
