Hopi Indian Early Morning Singer Kachina Doll 9" Katsina Carved by Milton Howard This is a sensational Early Morning Singer Kachina Doll 9" Katsina Carved By Hopi Indian Milton Howard. This gorgeous kachina doll was hand carved out of top grade cottonwood and hand painted with dyes made from natural materials off the reservation. This masked cottonwood spirit is seen during the Bean Dance procession and also would appear on the rooftops singing songs to wake the village people. The details include an energetic mix of paints throughout with a halo of feathers behind his head and a spruce ruff at the neck. The decorated breechcloth and knee bells add to the traditional elements. A coiled "Turquoise" necklace and a vibrant spruce tree is held in his left hand with a bell in his right. This fabulous Early Morning Singer stands at about 9" tall, including the base, and 4" wide. Named and signed by the master Hopi carver Milton Howard under the base.
