CAB Comment––A great film made from a classic true crime novel. Read the book and be sure to watch the movie “10 Rillington Place” starring Sir Richard Attenborough & John Hurt, and directed by Richard Fleischer.
“Ten Rillington Place”––Amazon Reader Review:
Be Careful About Your Neighbors!
(Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2020)
“I had to go to a third party seller after seeing the movie. Sir Ludovic Kennedy wrote about the last time that the United Kingdom hanged a criminal. The haunting case of the gruesome murders at 10 Rillington Place in Notting Hill, London, England. The killings took place in the fifties.
“Timothy, Beryl and their daughter Geraldine moved into the home John Reginald Halliday Christie and his wife, Ethel, lived for years. John was a serial killer who had already killed before the Evans family. Since abortion was still illegal and under the guise of an abortion, Christie killed Beryl and later their daughter Geraldine. He ended up setting Tim as the murderer. Tim had a low IQ and unable to grasp the reality. He was the second to last to get executed.
“The British courts would soon learn about Christie and his crimes of murder and sadism. Kennedy writes the truth about the horrible murders. The film adaptation was haunting with Lord Richard Attenborough as Christie and Sir John Hurt as Evans. It was a tragic story all around.”
