Les Vogt Performax Engraved Floral Shank Argentine Smooth Snaffle Bit #1121-19



This is a lightly used pre-owned brown steel show Agentine snaffle bit #1121-19 with engraved German Silver Floral overlays.  This is a pre-owned bit, but has been very well maintained and lightly used with light rusting to the mouthpiece.  The shanks are in well maintained condition with some light wear and rusting from use.  The mouthpiece is a lightly rusted sweet iron with copper inlays on the back side.

This beautifully detailed Argentine Snaffle Bit has hand engraved German Silver floral overlays over brown steel shanks that measure 7 inches long with a 2-1/2 inch purchase for a 3 to 1 leverage ratio.  The smooth 3/8 diameter snaffle bit mouthpiece measures 5-1/8 inches wide.  An Argentine snaffle is very forgiving and will teach a horse about leverage bits, what a chin strap is, and how to respond to the pressure it creates. It is a pretty simple bit and gives you a lot of lateral control, because the cheeks will swing out when you pull with one rein.  This bit was specially designed to increase performance by precision combinations.  The close up photos show the makers mark on the inside shanks that say "Les Vogt" and "Performax".

This mouthpiece can really enhance feel and communication for a rider that can work with a soft hand, and a horse that’s been properly bridled.  This bit works particularly well for horses that work better with pressure on the bars and tongue versus under the chin.

This bit is National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) show legal and is a leverage position #2 bit with a mouth power #3 mouthpiece.  Leverage position #2 gives the classic-necked horse the performance advantages of perfect neck flexion and head position.  Mouth Power #3 bits use a high-contact mouthpiece that can provide more respect from the harder-mouthed horse, and higher levels of communication with the experienced bridle horse.  This is a bit that is retired and no longer available from Les Vogt.  This stunning bit will make a great addition to your show bit collection and will look great in any show ring setting.
