Description: A pair of vintage painted cast iron bookends. The bookends depict a white colored horse standing on all four with its head to the ground obviously grazing. The horse has a brown colored saddle on its back and is standing on all four on a textured brown colored base having what looks like grass blades all colored in brown. It is not certain whether the grass blades were always brown or have lost their green coloring over time. The casting of the bookends is very well done and shows great details. The pieces are well painted and still retain quite a bit of their original paint (>90%). The bookends have a textured brown colored back and are unmarked. Condition: The bookends are in very good condition with no breaks, repairs, or dings that we could find. They have losses to the paint but still retain most of its original paint (>90%). It is not certain whether the grass blades the horse is eating were always brown or have lost their green coloring over time. Both pieces are soiled, have signs of rust especially on the bottom of the base, and would likely benefit from a good cleaning but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner.
