The Lacoste brand dates back to 1933, when the famous French tennis athlete, Rene Lacoste, co-founded the apparel company with business partner Andre Gillier. Prior to his success as a designer, Lacoste was a truly ferocious tennis player, a member of the infamous "four musketeers," French tennis luminaries who took home all the major titles during the post World War I period.
