Emenee Industries was organized in 1949 and produced mainly organs and musical toys for children. Between 1955 and 1968, Emenee was located in Flushing, New York where it became a leading manufacturer of plastic toys while continuing to produce musical instruments.
In May of 1968, the Ohio Art Company, a toy company from Bryan, Ohio, purchased 51 percent of Emenee stock and the company production was moved to Stryker. Emenee administrative offices were then located at Ohio Art.
Emenee only existed a short time as a subsidiary of the Ohio Art Company. In 1971, Emenee was manufacturing around 20 models of electrically operated reed organs, which were the most sophisticated instruments of the Emenee line, a dozen varieties of guitars, tambourines, rhythm band kits and other instruments. The plastic parts and metal assemblies were provided by Ohio Art and Strydel, a subsidiary of Ohio Art.
