Bing & Grondahl of Copenhagen, Denmark is a famous producer of fine porcelain. Collectors through the years love these hand painted plates featuring the shades of deep cobalt blues against white. This plate of the annual Christmas series shows a group of three pheasants against the snow. The border is marked "Jule After 1970". The bottom shows the maker's mark, artist's initial, and 8000/9070. Two holes are provided for hanging. Original box and Styrofoam packaging. Measures 7 1/4" diam. B & G issued the world's first Christmas plate in 1895. Plates are limited in production, the form is destroyed and re issue is impossible. Look for other B & G items in my booth.
