This is the first book of The Big League Series of 16 books about baseball. The book has illustrations. It is the third printing. The book is in good shape for its age. The first few pages show some separation from the binding, although it is not noticable from the exterior. The exterior shows some wear and especially where it has been sitting on a shelf, and a the edges of the cover. This is one of those reads that could be enjoyed by a young person who has a good vocabulary and reading skills, but an adult would also enjoy it. The writer, Gilbert Patten, managed a semi pro team when he was in his late 20's for a couple of years so he had knowledge of baseball first hand. He lived in Maine during the early part of his life before moving to New York, and then to California where he died in 1945. He was a very prolific writer using a number of pen names. It has been in a smoke free home. It will be shipped via USPS Media Mail unless other books are purchased. In that event the order will be combined and may be shipped by priority mail.
