This impressive medal was issued to participants of the Volkswander, also known as a Volksmarch - a form of non-competitive fitness walking developed in Europe in the 1960s. Made of a heavyweight metal with a bronze finish.
The medal is dated 1983 and features a map of Romania, Bulgaria and Greece with various points highlighted in red. The medal text is in German.

Sizing: The map section of the medal is 2-1/4" wide, 4-3/8" tall, 1/4" thick. It is attached by a chain to a 1-5/8" by 1" plaque.
