This is a porcelain Estee Lauder jar or trinket box that I have learned originally held an Aliard scented candle. This fragrance was introduced in 1972, and this piece has a 1978 date on the bottom. The design is a series of country scenes done in naif style. It is heavy.
CONDITION: This item is in excellent condition with no wear or damage but there is no original box. There is no longer a candle or any residue.
SIZE: The height with the lid in place is 4 3/8", and the width is 3 3/4".
BACKGROUND: This is one of a number of things I purchased from a neighbor before she moved away from our retirement community to live with her son out of state. She left a house full of beautiful china and glass and a well-stocked kitchen. I'll be listing more of her things over the coming weeks.
