DESCRIPTION & ANALYSIS

America's entry into The Great War in 1917 accelerated an already overheated economy, and the demand for additional coins was seemingly endless. This resulted in a huge mintage of 1917(P) halves and slightly more than half as many at the Philadelphia MInt during 1918. This issue was quite well made overall, and even gems are fairly plentiful. The broad borders of 1916-17 half dollars narrowed just a bit for 1918, a reflection of the new obverse hub with sharpened features to the upper portion of Liberty's flag gown. Not addressed in this change was the poor definition of the flag's red stripes (indicated by closely spaced lines), and this would not be fixed until 1921.

Looking at this coin, we touch with our eyes a piece of US history, sometimes very turbulent but also interesting and beautiful. The term Restrike is a coin that was minted at a later date. These coins are minted contemporaneously and do not contain 100 percent silver; however, they reflect their character in genuine state. Today, many people, both beginners and those already more advanced in numismatics also collect Restrike coins. |These coins are inserted together with their coin collection, filling the gaps of their genuine collections. They depict historical history in their beauty and are some of the most beautiful coins the world has ever minted and heard about these amazing collections.
