“When my Lord and I were invited to be in the Royal Entourage we were so excited! Then reality set in, we have to sew new costumes! After all, our lovely King and Queen were the epitome of Tudor elegance. We had to fit in! Using our collection of Queta’s Closet Patterns and Booklets we set to work. Now we can attend their Majesties in style. Our wonderful Tudor Shoes have drawn rave reviews from everyone who sees them! Of course, as retainers, there are those seemingly endlessly long courts. Standing in place behind the thrones can be hard on your feet, but with our custom fitted shoes it’s a breeze!” Lady Cassandra and Lord Renaldo

Here is our catalog entry: #112 Tudor Shoes Date: circa 1520 and later

The instructions are specific for leather working, but fabric can be appropriate, too. Two different construction methods are detailed: one, completely handstitched and authentic, and another, completely glued (not competition legal !). This shoe is correct for women and children, too. About the Designer:

Countess Enriqueta Isabel de Reyes y Mora, O. Pelican, O. Laurel, Baroness of the Court, is Harriet Stetser, whose pursuit of historical fact, fiction, and fancy have consumed the majority of her life ... so far! She was an award winning theatrical costume designer on the west coast of Florida for several years, specializing in historical stage plays. Now she is an antiques dealer and appraiser, and a collector of 15th, 16th, and 17th Century art, objects and furniture. And, she is a typical proud grandmother ... wanna see some photos? During her 18 years affiliation with the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc., Queta (as she was nicknamed) has shared her talents through teaching and creating the patterns here.
