Nanny Still (1926–2009), an artist from Finland, did her life’s work as a designer of imaginative glass art. She blurred the clear line between art and the practical use of glass. The objects had to function both in everyday use and as decoration. Nanny considered glass a living material, at the same time capricious, pleasant and radiant. In her view, the shapes given to glass must be characteristic of it, but only the imagination of the designer awakens it to its true splendor. From the point of view of Finnish golden age collectors, Nanny Still is definitely one of the most significant names. Her production stands out for its imagination and versatility.
