For your consideration is an American antique glass jug decanter made by Alvin with pure silver overlay and a matching plate or tray. The decanter has a monogram and the years 1886 and 1911. Also, it is marked near the handle ".99/1000, FINE, Alvin's hallmarks, D 99-1". The stopper has a #8 on the bottom of the ground tip. The decanter measures 9" high to the tip of the stopper and has an overall diameter of approximately 5". The matching tray measures 9 7/8" wide. Together, they weight 4 pounds and 7 ounces. The set is in pretty good antique/used condition, but needs some cleaning on the inside since there is white stain/sediment on the inside bottom. Also, there are a couple of damages to the overlay on the handle and the body of the decanter, including wear scratches to the glass as well. Additionally, the matching tray has consistent signs of wear on the glass (scratches) and some scratches on the silver. Overall, this magnificent antique set of jug decanter and matching tray looks fantastic taking into account its age.
