Jamylene 50mg For Occasional Constipation 40 Coated Tablets.

Jamylene is a medicine for adults and children over 6 years old, indicated in case of occasional constipation. This laxative allows to modify the consistency of the stools.

Its active ingredient is docusate sodium.

The other components which enter its formula are, for the core: hydrated silica, polyvidone excipient, neutral phosphate of calcium, cross-linked polyvidone, hydrogenated castor oil.

For the coating: shellac, gum arabic, saccharose, polysorbate 60, talc, cellulose acetate phthalate, titanium dioxide, orange yellow S (E110), wax E (Montan ester), carnauba wax.

For 1 coated tablet of 210 mg.

Dosage:

In adults, the usual recommended dose is 2 to 6 tablets per day, divided into 1 or 2 doses.

For children over 6 years of age, the dosage is reduced by half

The effect of Jamylene is usually seen only after 24 hours. This is a short-term treatment.

In case of overdose of Jamylene, the most likely manifestation is the appearance of abdominal pain. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if the dosage is higher than prescribed.

Contraindications of Jamylene:

This medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age, in case of allergy to the active substance or to any of the components contained in Jamylene, coated tablet, in case of abdominal pain or chronic constipation, but also if you suffer from certain diseases of the colon and intestine, such as Crohn's disease or rectocolitis

Jamylene should not be used for prolonged periods without medical advice.

Recent unexplained constipation and constipation causing pain, swelling of the abdomen and fever should be referred to a physician.

It is not recommended to combine Jamylene with parrafine oil.

Combination with other medications can be dangerous because Jamylene can cause a loss of potassium. Thus, be careful not to use certain diuretics (drugs prescribed for high blood pressure and certain heart diseases), certain heart drugs (digitalis, atiarrhythmics ...), or corticoids.

It is therefore important to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other drug treatment recently taken, or currently used.

The use of Jamylene is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy, but also during the period of breast feeding.

This medicine contains castor oil and sucrose, tell your doctor before taking it if you suffer from sugar intolerance.
