(2) Two Antique Photograph featuring Clergyman, Author and Lecturer Edward Augustus Horton (1843-1931), including a second photo with his friend and relative Fannie Reed Brewer (1958-1936). I am fairly certain these are both unpublished photographs. Photos each measure approximately 3.75 x 4.75 including white border. Condition: These are original photographs, not a copy or reproduction. The photo of Rev. Horton is in excellent condition. The picture of Rev. Horton and Ms. Brewer has two repaired tears. Edward Augustus Horton: Edward Augustus Horton was born on September 28, 1843 in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. He was the son of William Marshall and Ann (Leonard) Horton. Served in S. Atlantic Squadron during Civil War. Student University of Michigan, 1865-1866 (honorary Master of Arts, 1880). Graduate Meadville Theological Seminary, 1868. Studied at Brunswick and Heidelberg, 1871. (Doctor of Divinity, Tufts College, 1919). Pastor Leominster, Massachusetts, 1868-1875, Hingham, Massachusetts, 1877-1880, Second Church, Copley Square, Boston, 1880-1892 (emeritus). President Unitarian S.S. Society, and editor, Every Other Sunday, 1892-1910. Chaplain emeritus of Massachusetts Senate, Massachusetts Grand Lodge Freemasons, Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, and of Kinsley Post G.A.R. Married Josephine Adelaide Rand, December, 1875. Fannie Reed Brewer: Fannie Reed Brewer was born in Boston on April 9, 1958 to John Reed Brewer (1818-1893) and Caroline Sayles Brewer (1821-1887). The Brewers lived on Commonwealth Ave in Boston and had a summer estate at World's End in Hingham. They also owned Sarah and Langley Islands. Among Fannie's many great interests were the military, art, writers, and travel. She never married, and resided in the family homes in Boston and Hingham until her death in September, 1936. Her scrapbook of Military and Art History has been preserved by the Hingham, MA Public Library. This collection contains various items of memorabilia relating to Fannie's own travels, friends, and family members, as well as to famous New Englanders and military and art history. Some areas of particular interest include the theater and opera, writers, sculpture, the Panama CanaZone, World War I, and West Point. Documents include photographs and drawings, correspondence, newspaper articles and photographs, programs and advertisements, passports, holiday cards, and handwritten and typed notes.
