COFFINITE URANIUM ROCK
Grants NM June 2021
Radiation: 68,000. cpm
Weight: 4.1 oz
Price: $28.00 plus $12.80 shipping
This rock was found on the ground surface at Uravan CO,
NM, 17 miles NW from the mining town of Naturita CO, on
Colorado state highway 141. The date of the rock find was
June 2021.
Twenty miles south of Naturita CO, on Hwy 141, are highway
signs that identify "Disappointment Valley." North of the
valley are located uranium's economic riches. South of the
valley there is NO uranium, just disappointment. Hence the
descriptive name, "Disappointment Valley."
North of Naturita and Uravan is 50 miles of scenic wonders,
the red rock cliffs of the Gateway area. The highway is
fully paved and the surroundings are very scenic. The
north exit of Hwy 141 connects to the city (pop. 90,000)
of Grand Junction, which also involved itself in the uranium
mining industry until the end of the 1980s.
