About the Artist:

Bill Shaddix, traditional oil painter of the old and current West, was
born in Oklahoma in 1931 and was a child of the depression. His family
moved to California and he attended Whittier High School where he
received the only formal art training he ever had. In 1956 he became
the Deputy Sheriff of Orange County, California and advanced to being
an investigator with the D.A.'s office in 1959 - all these years
painting in his spare time. In his first years as a full-time
professional artist, Bill was painting seascapes and the varied
landscapes of Southern California. As his success grew, he traveled
and found renewed inspiration in the Rocky Mountain areas. He moved to
Arizona and his increased awareness of the color and romance of the
Indians and the Cowboy added new dimensions to his canvases.
