Spalted Willow Walking Stick with 20_plus Natural Wooden Diamonds



This amazing hiking staff is inlaid with tumbled chalcedony, amethyst, and a red tiger's eye stones to give this already amazing piece for a little extra flair.



Trekking stick is 63 inches tall, BUT best to grip at 58.5'' or below, approx. 5'' below the top.



WE CAN SHORTEN, at no charge. ;) FYI, If we cut that big crook off at the bottom, the stick would be 41 in., and hand grip would be at 36 in. and below. (Please see 'Size Guide' below.)

This hiking staff has a few curves, making it extra intriguing, but this stick stands straight ''for the most part'' (ie, comes back to center) and works great as a walking stick. (I use one all the time and can verify that crooked sticks work great and have marvelously charming character.)

♦ ALL NATURAL: No stains, paints or colors added--just 4-5 coats of clear poly finish. The natural colors are spectacular, looking so much better in person than I'm able to capture with photos.

♦ DIAMONDS: Covered with an exceptional array of natural wooden diamonds 💎 with all sorts of wonderful twisting curves and a variety of tan, caramel, dark brown and reddish brown colors.

♦ SOME DEEP...This stick has a few particularly deep diamonds (although it's difficult to capture the many curves and forms in the photos--but they're there,) so I feel I must mention it. They're beautiful alone, and also perfect for embedding more stones or charms into them, if you'd wish.

♦ SPALTED RAILING: Has highly coveted, unique and rare 🦄 semi_railing effect, where the diamonds become one with the wood and twist and turn the wood due to spalding/spalting.

♦ SOME PROTRUDING...Some "diamonds" even stick out like an ear, where you could pinch both sides, and normally I'd say you could maybe lace or pierce something through them, but there's a stone inlaid a bit too close to the edge for you to add another hole on this one.

♦ INSECT MARKINGS: Has several/a few insect and/or worm hole markings on this stick.

♦ Worm and other insect markings are somewhat rare 🦄 and are actually coveted, as they help create a unique design, character to the stick, and add another dimension to the story of how efficient nature works. 🦗🦟🐛

♦ The worms or insects have long disappeared, usually before I harvest or for sure 💯 during/after I dry my sticks INSIDE OUR HOME 🏡 for several months, then sand and coat with poly.

This walking staff is a OOAK (one of a kind) item made from native northern Minnesota diamond willow tree, and handcrafted by me, Tim P., a local, experienced artisan.

♦ Sustainably harvested in northern MN.

♦ Main bark removed by hand.

♦ Dried/cured naturally by air for a minimum of several months, though often much longer

♦ Meticulously and lovingly sanded to reveal nature's beauty

♦ Given 4-5 coats of clear polyurethane.



I use a walking cane DAILY (or hiking staff for woods trompsing), and have had the same hiking staff and cane for several years, and I take pride in making sure you get a beautiful, strong and sturdy walking staff to last for many years!

SIZE GUIDE

HINT: pretend this is a 58'' stick, since you can't hold the top 5'' for prolonged hikes. You CAN hold it there comfortably for short amount of time....just not for strenuous walks or hiking, eh.



♦ As a GENERAL rule, hiking sticks should be about shoulder height...give or take a few inches.

♦ For FLAT terrain, or rolling hills and groomed trails, a walking staff should be about 4-6" above the elbow, or a few inches below the shoulder.

♦ For HILLY terrain, a stick that's shoulder height or even a few inches above the shoulder is often preferred to help when descending.

♦ Preferences vary, sooo.....

♦ If you've never had a walking stick, try practicing on a broom stick (while wearing 👞🥿walking shoes) to see what height stick feels comfortable first AND where your preferred 🖐handgrip location would be.



✨ WE CAN SHORTEN, at no charge. We'll happily cut it down for you. Just let us know the length you want. Measure 2️⃣ twice and we'll cut once (then sand and coat with clear poly).



ABOUT MAX 300 lbs.

♦ This could maybe hold more weight, but I'm just guessing at wt. limit. I'm "only" ~200 lbs. and test each stick just by trying to bend it to make sure it's sturdy.

♦ Most of my walking sticks have a weight limit of 350 lbs. but this is just a tad (1/8") thinner than I'd like.

♦ 🚨THIS STICK does bend just a little if I push really hard on this, so it's not meant to be a crutch you lean on ALL the time. And no pole vaulting! ;) That way it will work great as a hiking aid for many years!

Since this is wood, and we're not a factory, I make no guarantees about the future condition of this walking stick, but CAN GUARANTEE it was strong without any large cracks when I harvested, cured, coated, listed, and packed it for shipping after it sells, inspecting it at each step along the way.



PLEASE INSPECT ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT before each use to make sure no cracks or weaknesses have developed, since wood does change over time.



CARE INSTRUCTIONS

♦ Bring it inside when you're not using it, and maybe wipe dirt or water off of it with a dry cloth or damp cloth if needed....when you can.

♦ Being left outside for a little while every now and then is no big deal. I've had the same stick I use daily for many years, and I leave it out sometimes--just not too often.

♦ These are made for the outdoors, but the clear poly is not UV tolerant like marine epoxy.

♦ Should not be left in the sun or extreme heat or cold for days and weeks on end. Otherwise, the same thing will happen to your lovely walking stick that happens to wood furniture left outside in all sorts of weather.

♦ Just bring it indoors when not in use, and the 5 coats of poly I've put on will help protect your walking stick and help you keep it nice looking and useful for many years.
