Thornton-le-Dale Thornton-le-Dale (also called Thornton Dale) is a village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England, about three miles east of Pickering on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. A thatched cottage in the village has appeared on countless calendars and chocolate boxes over the years. The village is often regarded as one of the prettiest in Yorkshire. The village lies on the A170 road from Thirsk to Scarborough. The route of The White Rose Way, a long distance walk from Leeds to Scarborough also passes through.
