CARNOTITE URANIUM ROCK

Price:   $33.00 plus $12.80 s/h

Weight:  11.0 oz.

This large rock is made of uranium, and it was

found near Grants NM, during August 2019.

Its radiation level is 52,000. CPM, a high level

compared to ordinary rocks found in the wilderness.

(This radiation level is LOW, when compared with

medical or industrial applications.)

The site, Jurassic Canyon, is better known by its

previous name, POISON CANYON. That name is

historically and geologically inaccurate. The term,

POISON, in the older name, has NOTHING to do

with uranium or radioactivity. The term, POISON,

refers to toxic natural chemicals in the soil, two

of which are selenium and arsenic. These two

substances are toxic to farm animals that graze

on the land; they have NOTHING to do with

the rock's natural radioactivity.

Carnotite is one of the more common radioactive

minerals, found nearly everywhere at which natural

uranium mining was conducted. Carnotite was

the main mineral exhumed at the Uravan

Colorado mines, from which U235 was

extracted, to fuel the Manhattan Project

which ended the Pacific War with Japan,

August 1945. Its characteristics are

fully described at the National Radiation

Museum, at Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
