Vinyl plays nicely (play-graded). Cover looks great; a few creases near edges; light-scuffing and surface impressions (front/back); slight discoloration on back. Inner-sleeve is original (generic white). Spine is easy-to-read with very mild-wear. Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge, and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use. Silver label. Name stamped on one side of label (Not a cut-out.)
Sweet Emma Barrett was at her most powerful in the early 1960s and became an iconic figure with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. She was nicknamed "Bell Gal" because she wore a red skull cap and garters with Christmas bells that jingled in time with her music. She was featured on the cover of Glamour magazine and written up in publications on both sides of the Atlantic. When the Preservation Hall Jazz Band began to hit the road, she took it on international tours. Barrett toured in the United States as well, including a stint at Disneyland in 1963. During 1964, Sweet Emma Barrett and her Preservation Hall Jazz Band went to the Guthrie Theater to record a live performance. The subsequent recording turned into The Preservation Hall Jazz Bands first record, Sweet Emma and Her Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
