Description: A beautiful marble sculpture of Aphrodite in the MET Museum's collection was made in Imperial Rome (1st or 2nd century A.D.) as a copy of a Greek statue of the third or second century B.C. In this work, the goddess of love is shown as though surprised at her bath. Originally, her arms reached forward to shield her body in a gesture that both concealed and accentuated her sexuality. Our beautiful reproduction of the Museum's Aphrodite was created with a combination of three-dimensional imaging and traditional sculpture techniques. THIS ITEM IS BRAND NEW!
