Technique: Hand thrown on a potters wheel and smoothed without ridges. The foot is nicely trimmed.
Surface Treatment: Glazed and bisque.

This Studio Art Pottery Bowl has a very cheerful look to it. The yellow base is rich and bright which was hard to capture in the photos. It appears to have an ethnic influenced design but created in an abstract style. The glazed accents appear to be applied with an airbrush. The bowl was created on a potters wheel and hand thrown, burnished until smooth and the foot was trimmed to an attractive design. The entire foot has been left unglazed for a bisque finish and the interior and exterior body was glazed with a shiny clear glaze over the coloring. The inside has some black spots which were in the glaze when applied. One spot can be seen above the mountains on the right side. Other symbols appear decorative but reflective of primitive writing symbols which decorate the bowl on the inside and out. The artist of this piece had a last name of Schneider which is handsigned on the bottom. No year or place of manufacture is indicated. The clay used was most likely a white clay rather than grey since the unglazed parts are white which no doubt adds to the brilliant color in this piece. This Studio Art Pottery Bowl would make a fine addition to your Unique Art Pottery collection. This bowl weighs in at 10 oz.
