Description: A most beautiful blue colored art pottery small jardiniere or squat vase with two small handles at the top by the Roseville Pottery Company. This jardiniere is in the Water Lily pattern. It was made in early to late 1940s. It shows large flowers and lily pads floating on a textured blue surface resembling rippling water. Date: Early to late 1940s.
Origin: Roseville, Ohio.
Size: Base measures ~2 1/4" in diameter at the base, ~4 1/8" high, and ~7" at its widest including both handles. The vase weighs a bit over one pound.
Maker: Roseville Pottery Company.
Marks: In relief on the bottom "Roseville, U. S. A. 437-4" (see the last photo).
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a truly nice piece of art pottery which is very difficult to come by. The colors are rich, fresh and vivid and would display very well in your collection.
Condition: The vase is in good condition with no cracks, hairlines, chips, or repairs. Its colors are fresh, vivid, and great looking. The vase has general crazing to the glaze, which is difficult to see because of the coloring and the nature of the surface. The piece is slightly soiled and could use a good cleaning to bring out its full beauty.
