ESPUMISAN 40 mg 25 caps Stomach Pain, Meteorism, Bloating, Colic relief
Espumisan contains the active substance simeticone, which is an agent used in gastrointestinal ailments and as an aid in diagnostic tests.
Espumisan is indicated for use in children over 6 years of age, adolescents and adults. It is intended for the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal complaints and as an aid in diagnostic tests.
Indications
Espumisan is used:
in the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal complaints related to the excessive accumulation of gases in the gastrointestinal tract, e.g. flatulence
in the case of increased gas formation in the postoperative period
in preparing patients for radiological and ultrasound examinations of the abdominal cavity and gastroscopy
Action
The active substance of the drug - simethicone, causes the bursting of gas bubbles contained in the food mass and in the gastrointestinal mucus. The gases released in this process can then be absorbed through the intestinal wall and removed with bowel movements.
Contraindications
Espumisan should not be used:
if you are allergic to simethicone, sunset yellow FCF (E 110), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dosage
Recommended dose:
In gastrointestinal disorders associated with excessive gas accumulation, e.g. flatulence, including, in the case of increased gas formation in the postoperative period:
children over 6 years of age, adolescents and adults - 2 capsules (corresponding to 80 mg of simethicone) 3 to 4 times a day
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Due to the effect of simethicone and the lack of its absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the body, no harmful effects are expected from the use of Espumisan during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
There are no clinical data on the use of Espumisan in pregnant women.
Side effects
So far, no side effects associated with the use of Espumisan have been reported.
Sunset Yellow FCF (E 110) may cause allergic reactions.
Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218) may cause hypersensitivity reactions (possibly delayed).
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist or nurse, including any side effects not listed in this leaflet.
Storage
Keep the drug out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store above 30ÂșC.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the blister or label and the box. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Ingredients
The active ingredient of Espumisan is Simethicone. Each capsule contains 40 mg of simethicone.
The other ingredients are: Methyl parahydroxybenzoate, Gelatin, Glycerol 85%, Sunset Yellow FCF (E 110), Quinoline Yellow (E 104).
