Here for your consideration, is a RARE, VINTAGE FISHER PRICE #212 MY FRIEND JENNY NEW IN BOX! In the late 1970's to early 80's, Fisher Price introduced a series of soft bodied dolls with vinyl limbs, lush, brushable hair, vinyl faces, and easily removable clothes and accessories. The series, called My Friend dolls, featured 5 doll characters: Mandy, Jenny, Becky, Nicky, and Mikey. Manufactured for only two years (1979-81), this FIRST EDITION Jenny doll is coveted by collectors.
This Jenny has never been played with or removed from her box other than to take photos. Jenny still exhibits the plastic wrapper around her head and the plastic ties around her neck and thighs are still in place. In addition, the plastic tie anchoring her hat on her head is still intact. Her brunette hair is styled in a below shoulder length, full bodied cut. Through clever engineering, Jenny can be posed either in a standing or sitting position. Her soft body invites plenty of cuddling and her facial features are welcoming and mesmerizing. Jenny comes with her original care instruction booklet on the care and maintenance of these My Friend dolls. Jenny also comes with an original pattern for making her a nightgown. Jenny can be washed in the clothes washer and tumble dried in the dryer. In addition, her hair can be shampooed and styled in a variety of ways.
I've tried to include a variety of photos to illustrate how remarkable Jenny really is. I did not attempt to remove her clothing for fear of damaging the plastic encircling her head. All of her original clothes are included. Jenny's outfit consists of a chocolate brown, flower print jumper, coupled with a puffy sleeved, cream colored blouse, brown tights, shiny chocolate colored shoes, and a wide brimmed straw hat trimmed with a brown ribbon. Her cloth body displays yellow flowers and appears bright and undamaged. Her clothes are easy to remove or put in place thanks to their velcro closures. Jenny and her clothing are odor free. I cannot spy any "imperfections" in either her appearance or that of her clothes.
Jenny's box shows minimal wear. All flaps are intact as is the original cellophane cover. There a few, minor rubs on the box and an original price sticker. I would categorize this box as being an 9.0 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being perfect.
Jenny weighs approximately 2 lbs. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
For domestic (mainland deliveries), I'm finding that Fed Ex Home Delivery is running about 33% cheaper than the USPS (including Parcel Post) and UPS Ground. This is especially true for packages weighing in excess of 5 lbs., traveling longer distances, or being shipped in oversized boxes (for the USPS, any dimension over 12" is considered oversized). To ship Fed Ex Home Delivery, I MUST have a residential address, NOT a P.O. Box, and a home, work, or cell phone number. Besides offering free tracking assistance, the Fed Ex quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Insurance amounts in excess of $100 may be secured at a nominal fee.
Due to the weight of this item, I'll probably be sending Jenny via Priority Mail.
