Recinto Sur is a street in Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. I painted this pastel from a photograph I took while my husband and I were visiting his mother there. If you look closely, the woman walking on the street is carrying a kitten. Perhaps she found it on the street and was taking it home. Also, if you are unfamiliar with pastels, read on. They are sticks make from pure pigment with minimal binder. They are an immediate, dry, and vibrant medium to paint with. If properly handled and framed, they rarely lose their vibrancy.
