This is a pastel painting I did from a photograph I took from Old San Juan in Puerto Rico of the ocean view below.  My husband's mother's friend took me on a tour of the area and out to dinner.  She did not speak much English and I did not speak much Spanish, so it was a conversation of hand signals!  Also, if you are not familiar with pastels, read on. The sticks are made of pure pigment and with minimal binders.  They are an immediate, dry, and vibrant medium to paint with.  They will rarely lose their vibrancy if handled and framed properly.
