About The Record:

Born within ten years of one another, Muzio Clementi and Luigi Boccherini were symbolic of the element of change at the close of the eighteenth century. Their works can be said to bridge the dying elements of baroque and the elements of reform about to erupt with the new spirit of romanticism. As of most compositions of this period, their works contain abundance of sentimental beauty, full of sensuous charm, sweet, soft melody, and were rather more prone to affection than to true emotional expressive - a tendency which balanced the sober, passionless, rationalistic intellectually which prevailed as the eighteenth century hallmark.
