Our goal is to save old films from the trash heap and digitize them in HD for future generations. The Son went to film school and the father is passionate about history and assembles the content. Famous Piper/Taylor J3 Cub Plus the Army L-4 Grasshopper

This DVD is about The famous J3 Piper Cub. 1st designed as a lightweight affordable civilian trainer back in 1937 and had a production run over 20K built.When the WW2 broke out,. the Army needed a way to spot artillery results. They figured out the maybe a light spotter plane could help, and did they ever help. In the Pacific, they were called "Flying Jeeps" and in the European theater, they were called "Grasshoppers". The Germans just thought they were just trouble.. We hope that you'll thoroughly enjoy the collection, We certainly did. Great piece of Army History!

1st Film; "Piper Corp J3 Factory".  Amazing film by Piper Aircraft Co. called "The Construction of a Light Aircraft".  Rare narrated  footage on how Piper constructed the J3 Cub from the ground up. Runtime 27:17 M

2nd Film; "Taylorcraft Corp J3 Factory"  This too is a very RARE film on the Taylorcraft Company building J3 Cubs. Runtime Aprox 11 min

3rd Film; "Pre-Engine CK of L-4, Piper Cub". This is an Army film to show how to maintain a L-4 Piper Cub before flight. Prop ck, engine ck, magnetos ck, oil ck, wire ck, gasoline ck, engine start-up, etc. This film is great for those who have a cub. I added 3 1/2 minutes of HD footage of a yellow piper cub the we filmed at Bracket field, CA. Shows the owner priming his cub, pulling the prop to start, and flying off into the sunset. 4nd Film; "L-4 Grasshopper". This is a great collection of footage from the Pacific to the European theater. From bring in sullies, to medi-vac wounded soldiers, the little plane could almost anything and land anywhere. During the Leyte golf battle in the Philippines, the actually loaded them on LST's and made a runway on the deck to launch them. Nice collection and Great stuff. About 20 M

5th Film; "ID the Piper Grasshopper". This film is from the Army called "Identify the Piper J3 Cub using the WEFT system. Great information about the features of this plane. Lots of great footage of this aircraft. Runtime 4:33 Min's

6th Film: "J3 Missionary Telephone. Another rare film on how to use a circling J3 Cub dropping a radio phone for ground people to communicate to the outside world. Amazing   About 6 M

7th Film; Bush and Float J3 Cubs.   The Piper J3 Cub was very useful ad a Bush plane with rugged tires or floats to land on fawaway Lakes. M ostly filled in Alaska/ About, 10M

6th Film; J3 Cub other uses"  J3 Cub used as a Red Cross Rescue airplane in the Alps.  2nd, J3 Crop Dusting.  3rd, J3 Stunts.  4th, Low Level Crop Duster. About 7 M
