This 1908 children's classic is perhaps best known for the 1930s edition illustrated by Ernest Shepard.  (A vintage copy of this version is also available in this booth.)  But for this '90s edition, which keeps Grahame's full text, artist Patrick Benson re-imagines the idyllic world of Mole, Water Rat, Badger and Toad with dozens of delightful new  black and white illustrations.  272 pages, color-illustrated end papers.  Some wear to the lower cover corners, bottom edges show slight wear and there's a modest bump on the top cover edge; a page corner crease and toning on the inside margins only.  The jacket has some short tears and wear on the edges amd spine ends and a light, though long, scratch and some soiling on the back cover. Otherwise, a tightly bound and unmarked book.   Surprisingly uncommon in the dust jacket.
