Charles Laughton is a London street entertainer who takes pity on poor, homeless, Vivien Leigh. While staying at his boarding house, Laughton trains her and makes her a part of the act. Well-known song writer Rex Harrison catches the act and takes interest in Leigh and offers her a spot in a new show. Leaving Laughton behind she pursues her career.
