Morinda citrifolia
Indian Mulberry
Living among the shady forests in Southeast Asia to volcanic terrains in the South Pacific, Morinda citrifolia is well adapted to a wide variety of climates. Throughout the year large fruits, which change in color from green to yellow to white, accent delicately small white flowers hiding among far reaching bright green leaves, crowding the canopy of the tropical tree. Growing up to 20 feet tall, this species thrives in seaside areas, is hardy to 40 degrees F, but is not frost tolerant. Known to be one of the most difficult tropical fruit trees to grow, germination averages 12 months. PATIENCE is required (Please don’t buy if you can’t give the proper amount of time)
This very rare seed produces a versatile multi-purpose tree that is perfect for the plant collector. Although a tropical plant it is moderately drought tolerant but must be protected from frost. Seedlings will need a lot of light to grow well. Perfect for the household environment in addition to bonsai culture. Beautiful white blossoms occur attracting pollinators, like butterflies and hummingbirds, filling the tree with all kinds of activity. This tree is highly prized by collectors worldwide and seed is hard to get so don’t wait and buy yours today!
