BLACKHAWK # 1-3

DC Comics (1988 Limited Series)

Book One: Blood and Iron (March 1988) Howard Chaykin revives the World War II fighter pilot and his team in a series that was fairly cutting-edge for its time, with plenty of graphic violence, sex and language, when such things were still rare in mainstream comics. Blackhawk wakes from an alcoholic blackout to find himself mixed up with gangsters, Nazi spies, a corrupt U.S. senator and a plot to steal the atomic bomb. For some reason, this miniseries was never collected into a single volume. Story and art by Chaykin. Mature readers. Squarebound. Prestige Format. 52 pages. Cover price $2.95.

Book Two: Red Snow (April 1988) Howard Chaykin revives the World War II fighter pilot and his team in a series that was fairly cutting-edge for its time, with plenty of graphic violence, sex and language, when such things were still rare in mainstream comics. Blackhawk faces off against an Errol Flynn-like Hollywood star who is also a Nazi spy, an idea borrowed by the Rocketeer movie. For some reason, this miniseries was never collected into a single volume. Story and art by Chaykin. Mature readers. Squarebound. Prestige Format. 52 pages. Cover price $2.95.

Book Three: Blackout (May 1988) Howard Chaykin revives the World War II fighter pilot and his team in a series that was fairly cutting-edge for its time, with plenty of graphic violence, sex and language, when such things were still rare in mainstream comics. Blackhawk and the new Lady Blackhawk, a Soviet agent, battle Nazis armed with an atomic weapon on top of the Empire State Building. For some reason, this miniseries was never collected into a single volume. Story and art by Chaykin. Mature readers. Squarebound. Prestige Format. 52 pages. Cover price $2.95.
