Vintage 8 x 10 in. US double-weight matte photograph (not a vintage original) from the teens silent film western short, KNIGHT OF THE TRAIL, released in 1917 by Mutual Film Corp. and directed by William S. Hart. A cowboy must regain the love of his fiance, who has found out about his past as a thief and bank robber and broken off their engagement. In her anger at him, she agrees to marry a no-account who, unknown to her, is planning to take her money and leave her at the altar.
The image depicts an exterior shot of Jim Treen (William S. Hart) looking sheepish as he delivers some upsetting news to Molly Stewart (Leona Hutton) while his horse waits next to him. This photograph is a frame blow-up that was printed on a high-end matte stock and features a rich tone. It is in very fine condition as shown.
