What's on this DVD; U-Boats VS The Convoys Atlantic War WWII 1st Film; " Story of the U-570". This film has very rare footage of the U-570 after it was captured in 1941. This was before the USA was in the war. She was bombed by a Hudson bomber off of Iceland and was not able to submerge, thus she was captured by the British HMS Niagara (Once a formally a US 4 piper Destroyer USS Thatcher). The Destroyer told the U-Boat crew not to scuttle the sub if the wanted to be rescued. They agreed and went about destroying everything of value through the night including the famous Enigma Machine and code books. U-570 was renamed the HMS Graph. Runtime 7:44 Min's 2nd Film; "Designed for War". A Victory at Sea film about the struggle of the U-Boats vs. the Convoys before the US joined the war. Runtime. 26:14 Min's 3rd Film; "Canadian Convoy". This film is very rare and historic story about the Canadian Convoys fighting across the pond in 1940 to deliver goods to Britain. This film is narrated in French, but the crew speaks in English. Very rare, but very good story and footage. Great piece of history. Runtime 10:02 Min's 4th Film; "Sealing the Breach". The 2nd Victory at Sea film about the struggle of the U-Boats and the Convoys, but this shows the USA in the fight. Runtime 26:30 Min's. 4th Film; "Capture of U-505". Although the British did not keep a secret that U-570 was captured, The US Navy did keep the capture of U-505 a secret because of the enigma machine. So, after the war, This story "Now it can be Told" could finally be released to the public. This is about how the USS Carrier Guadalcanal captured the German U-Boat U-505.
