What's on this DVD; USN Early Destroyers This DVD is about the Amazing Early 4 Piper Destroyers. We collect old films and footage and this is a collection of 4 pipers destroyers and WW2 destroyers. If you ever wondered about these beautiful early Destroyers, we think you will enjoy this DVD. The early destroyers were first called sub-chasers. The first Destroyer was named USS Bainbridge DD-1. Also know as Tin cans, Flush decks, and Grayhounds of the sea, the early Wickes class was a real step forward in design. Light weight and fast with the steam turbine driving them, They were used as the scouts of the Navy. There some very RARE footage that have rarely been seen in this DVD. This DVD took us years to collect enough footage to release it.
1st Film: "Grayhounds of the Sea". This is a great film created by the US Navy on mostly of the early Destroyers to WW2 destroyers, this is amazing to see. Amazing stuff. Runtime 26:43 M

6th Film; "4 Piper on Convoy Duty". A 1943 film on the need for destroyers used to fight off U-boats in the Atlantic War. Film footage is of a 4 piper destroyer. 8:24 M
7th Film; "The Disaster at Honda Point". This is a collection of film footage and photos of the greatest Navy maritime disaster in US history. Destroyer squadron of 14 Clemson class destroyers left San Francisco to travel to San Diego, in Sept 1923, and mis-judged the turning point outside of Santa Barbara. at 9:00 pm, the flag ship USS Delphy crashed into the rocks with 7 others following. 23 men died that night.
