About Us;  Welcome to Campbellfilms. We are a small American family business, started by a father & son that collects old films. Our goal is to save old films from the trash heap and digitize them in HD for future generations. The Son went to film school and the father is passionate about history and assembles the content. What's on this DVD;  Mount Tamalpais Railroad "The Crookedest Railroad in the World" 

A VERY RARE collection of film footage on the famous Tamalpais Railroad that ran from 1896, to 1930. Before the automobile,  railroads were the best way to travel and have an adventure. The Tamalpais RR was like early Disneyland for thrill seekers.  You got to ride up on a geared "Shay" Steam locomotive to the top of Mt Tamalpais, and when ready to leave, you could ride down on a Gravity flatcar as a thrill ride, and you wanted, you could visit  the famous Muir Redwood Forest.

It was a great hit for 34 years until a raging fire in 1930 burned everything down. We collect old films and put them on DVD's to help preserve a digital memory of these old films.  In this case,  A professor from Montana Asked if we would restore and create DVD's for his School projects, (the original films will got to the Library of Congress).  In return for gladly doing this work for free, he has given us the privilege to sell the great piece of history!! 1st Film;  "The Crookedest Railroad in the World".  This is a RARE film that starts with the history of the Tamalpais Railroad. This film has sound and has narration of the history of the Tamalpais Railroad. I have seen little bits and pieces of the Tamalpais Railroad before, but nothing like this.  This is not a Hollywood film, but a fascinating footage of the Tamalpais RR.   Lots of great footage of the early 1900's. Runtime 15:45 Min's 

2nd Film;  "Tamalpais Railroad".  This film is similar to the 1st film, but it is an entirely different film collection.  This film has a old soundtrack, but no narration.  Also has early footage of Mt Tamalpais plus the early Depot.  It is amazing how little development there was back then, and yet, how developed some of the train stops were. Plus you'll see the Gravity cars in motion. A little on Muir Forest. Really fun stuff.  Runtime 14:35 Min's  

3rd Film; "Panoramic Golden Gate". This is a silent film by Thomas Edison on the scenic Rail of the west coast line around the Golden Gate before the GG Bridge was build.  Just a little view down memory lane. Great stuff.  Runtime 3:04 Min's 

4th Film; "Edison Senic RR's".  Here is a  small collection of some early Edison films on Railroads. 1st, Freight Train.  2nd, Black Diamond.  3rd, Panoramic Gorge Railway.  4th, Going through a tunnel.  5th, Fast Mail.  6th.
