What's on this DVD;  Patton Tanks

This DVD is a collection of films and a few newsreels on the US Army's "Patton Tanks". General Patton was considered one of the greatest Tank generals of all time. Although the Germans invented the tank term "Blitzkrieg", General Patton handed that tactic back to the Germans in droves to win the war with Hitler.  Because of his success, 4 tanks were named after him in his honor.  They were; 1st the M-46, then M47, to the M-48 and then finally, the Main Battle tank, the M-60.  This DVD concentrates mostly on the M-48 and the M-60, but there is some interesting films on the early M-46 and M-47 too.   We hope you'll enjoy.

1st Film; "Development of the M-48 Tank". This is an Army film on the M-48 tank that was developed in the early 1950's.  The M-46 and the M-47 got there origin from the T-26 Pershing tank, but the M-48 was an altogether new design.  This is that story. Runtime 15:29 Min's

2nd Film; "M-48 Training".  This film concentrates on the training soldiers on how to use the M-38 Tank.  Eventually it show the M-48 tank being used in Vietnam.  Runtime 14:08 Min's

3rd Film; "Tanks in Vietnam".  This is a collection of several films on the 25th and the 1st Infantry Armored Division arriving in Vietnam in1965. This  Film shows the Army's Armor tactical methods in action, including the M-48 tank, APC's and Helicopters all in coordination.  Great footage. Runtime 38:16 Min's

4th Film; "Building the M-60 Battle Tank".  This film show the development  and testing the M-60 Main Battle Tank.  There are a few big differences between the M-48 and the M-60.  1st, the switched the engine to a Diesel and upgraded the main gun from a 90mm to a 105mm.  Other changes was making it lighter by using Aluminum.  Great piece of history. 5th Film; "M-46, M-47, M-48 and the M-60 Patton Tanks".  This is a collection of Patton Tanks starting with the M-46 in Korea to the M-47 Tank in Germany, to the M-48 testing and ends with the M-60 Tank at Aberdeen and then to Vietnam. Runtime 17:33 Min's
