What's on this DVD;  US and the Panama Canal 

This DVD is a collection of old vintage films on the Panama Canal.  For 400 years, Man dreamed of a canal through the jungles of Panama. After the French succeeded in building the 100 mile Suez Canal, the French thought the 10 mile Isthmus of Panama would be easy.  But, the 10 miles of jungle proved to be a total disaster and the gave up after 15 years of effort. So, the American's took over in 1903 and with a different approach, they found a way to succeed by using Locks. Starting in 1904, the Americans began there conquest to build the canal and finished in 7 years. Amazing. We hope you'll enjoy!.   

1st Film; "AFIF Panama".  This a US Military film on the Panama Canal,  it's people, a short history and the US Navy's use of the canal. Runtime 18:10 Min's

2nd Film; "The Building of the Panama Canal".  This is a very old film footage with narration on the building of the Panama Canal. Great piece of history. Runtime 9:37 Min's

3rd Film; "Ocean to Ocean". This is film about a Victory ship crossing on the Panama canal and how the canal works. A short story of the Panama canal history, to the actual crossing of the canal itself by the SS . Rushville Victory Ship. Great footage. Runtime 9:15 Min's

4th Film; "1951 Big Picture Panama". THE BIG PICTURE cameras provide a colorful panorama of Latin America locations. From the fascinating site of the Panama Canal with its strategic to colorful glimpses of carnival time, viewers will be exposed to the important story of what the U.S. Army is doing to bolster Latin America solidarity.
