The famous Bomber that bombed the Japanese at the beginning of the war, from the deck of the Hornet Carrier. FDR called her the "Shangri-La". The B-25 Mitchell was considered one of the best medium bombers of all time. We hope that you will enjoy this collection.
1st Film: "Flying the B-25". This is a great film created by the USN about how to fly the North American B-25 Mitchell Bomber. Featuring single engine training, and short field take-offs. Lots of great footage of the B-25, amazing stuff. Runtime 21:28 Min
2nd Film: "Earthquakers". This is a film from the US Army Air Forces about the early war in North Africa. Part of the 9th AAF of the 12 bombardment, these B-25's fought the Nazis with the RAF. Film is in early color. Runtime 19:33 Min
3rd Film: "Tokyo Bombed: The Doolittle Raid". This is a collection of films on the famous Doolittle Raid. This was the first attack against the Japanese homeland from an American Carrier. This is a fascinating story that America really needed after the devastating disaster from Pearl Harbor. Really great footage of this event. Runtime 10:41 Min
4th Film: "B-25 Newsreels". This is a great collection of B-25 newsreels. 1st - The story of "Billy Mitchell", the General who believed that Battleships were obsolete, 2nd - GM Factory, 3rd - Mud in Africa, 4th - Jet assisted B-25 take-offs, 5th - Latest in the Pacific, 6th - B-25 Mass attacks, 7th - B-25 crashes into Empire State building, 8th - story on the history of the B-25. 5th Film: "Retreat and Advance". This is a great film from the series called the USAF Story. This was the battle in late 1944 against the Japanese in China. With little equipment and parts these guys were able to keep these old B-25's, P-51's, P-40's, and B-24's flying against the Japanese. Quite the struggle. Runtime 14:03 Min
6th Film: "B-25 in the Pacific". This is a collection of films on the B-25 fighting in the pacific. From high and low altitude bombing run, to equipping a Squadron of B-25Gs with 75mm canons, to bombing all around the Pacific. Last part is about the A helicopter marking a downed B-25 that crash-landed in an old field - "The Cornhusker". Really great stuff. Runtime 15:37 Min
7th Film: "B-25 Xmas Story". A short film about a B-25 that brings Xmas presents to troops on a Pacific Island during WW2. We also added some footage of B-25's flying today.
