Description
Offered here is this Amazing Antique Railroad Adlake Non-Sweating Switch Lamp. The lamp is in good, working condition, and in general has been well cared for and has little wear, although there is one corner of the lamp at the top where the embossed lettering is that is slightly bent. I am unsure of the age of the lamp, but it was made in Chicago. Switch lamps were placed at switches on the track to indicate which direction the switch was set to. Green was usually straight, and red was usually a turn off of the current line. Switch lamps have four lenses, two red and two green, on opposite sides from each other so that no matter which direction the train was going on the track, it would see the same color. This one has been converted to an electric table lamp that is in working usable condition. The lenses are all intact. The enameling is most like a restoration, and is in great condition, although it is also worn at the edges and corners. The lamp is 21.5" tall at the original handle, 28" tall at the finial, 19" tall at the socket, 8.5" across from lens to lens, and about 7" in diameter at the base. It is an amazing piece of antique railroad memorabilia, and will be a wonderful addition to your collection and home.
