While recording sound effects for a film, Jack Terrry accidentally records a blowout as he watches a speeding car plummet into a murky river.  He dives in and saves Sally, but the driver - a high-ranking political candidate - is dead.  Jack is told to forget the whole incident.  Listening to his tape again, he hears the unmistakable sound of a gunshot.  Together, he and Sally piece the clues that lead them into an intricate web of political assassination and brutal murder in which they could be the next victims
