1946 Alumni Day Mug

Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1946 Alumni Day Mug.  Like many young men at colleges and universities across the US, many M.I.T. students served in World War II, returning to their studies when the war was over.  Here, one such young man, with his helmet by his side, is struggling with a slide rule.  He doesn't seem convinced by the inscription "Back to the days that were free from care".

Approximately 4.5 inches tall (about 11.5 cm) and 3.5 inches across the base (just under 9 cm) plus the handle.  Part of a series that ran from approximately 1938 to 1954.  Made by Bailey-Walker of Bedford, Ohio.  A very heavy and well-made mug ,weighing 1 pound 12 ounces empty with a capacity just over 12 fluid ounces.  Please see my Store for other mugs in this series.

EXCELLENT CONDITION (no chips, cracks, or repairs), showing only the most minor surface wear (now 76 years old!)
