This gorgeous Art Nouveau plate has a lot to offer the Nouveau enthusiast. It features an Egyptian outer border with a beautiful Cerulean blue border underneath it filled with typical Nouveau swirls around flowery offsets, just brilliant! As if Nouveau borders weren't enough, the viewer is then drawn to the exquisitely rendered Young lady surrounded by flower pedals with a butterfly landing on her finger... of course, what else would we expect?
The distinguishing ornamental characteristic of Art Nouveau is its undulating asymmetrical line, often taking the form of flower stalks and buds, vine tendrils, insect wings, and other delicate and sinuous natural objects; the line may be elegant and graceful or infused with a powerfully rhythmic and whiplike force.
