Chewing gum king Leander Hicks is trying to persuade his willful daughter, Geraldine, to marry malted milk king Percy Horton. Geraldine meets scientist Robert Chester while he is hunting bugs and butterflies, and they fall in love. Bob discovers that Horton is really the leader of a gang of rum-smugglers. Horton attempts a getaway in his yacht with Geraldine and her father on board. Bob boards the vessel, defeats Horton, and is attacked by the crew; but the police arrive and arrest the gang. The lovers are united.
