William Bligh (Charles Laughton), the cruel captain of the HMS Bounty, a ship bound for Tahiti, makes very few friends. A mutiny starts when crew members tire of his abuse. Fletcher Christian (Clark Gable) leads the mutiny, resulting in Bligh's removal from the ship and his promotion to captain!! While Christian and the remaining crew sail onwards to Tahiti, Bligh becomes madly intent on exacting revenge, and he teams up Roger Byram (Franchot Tone), a sailor who had actually tried to stop the mutiny.
