A 19th century baroque seraphim sterling silver belt chatelaine presumably manufactured in France. The chatelaine would have been worn by the mistress of the house on her belt for easy access to useful items. The chatelaine held onto a belt by a clasp/pin at the top and suspended from it were trinkets. This chatelaine holds a snuff box, expandable pencil, and engraved pin box. The trinkets are suspended by chains and the decorations on the trinkets and clasp at the top are scrolling details. In collectible jewelry book 1983 estimated value is $1250.

Measures about : broch - 1-1/2" x 1", pencil w/retrievable point when not extended - 2", pin holder/or writing pad case - 1-1/4" x 1", snuff box/pin cushion - 1-1/8" round.
